PMI Target Blood 4.5 million bags in 2012


Blood stock in Indonesia is still less than the requirement that each year reached 4.8 million bags.

For this reason, the General Chairman of the Red Cross Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla said, PMI attempted to reach the blood stock of 4.5 million bags in 2012.

"God willing, next year as it reached 4.5 million bags (to close) our needs. But whatever, (depending) our efforts, all highly dependent, are determined by voluntary donors as is present today," said JK when giving a speech in the conferment ceremony honors Satyalancana Social Worship to 1329 volunteer blood donors who had donated blood 100 times, Tuesday (13/12).

The need for blood in Indonesia each year to reach 4.8 million bags. At present, derived from voluntary blood donors which is about 70% or about 3.4 million bags.

"So far, we are voluntarily contributing approximately 70% -80%. Because, in addition to voluntary donors, there is also a donor name a replacement. That is the family that if his brothers had difficulty. If not available at the red cross, then they donate for his family. But we brusaha hard that the number of voluntary donors will be much larger, so replacement is not too big donors, "he said.

To improve blood donors, Jusuf Kalla explained that there are several steps that have been planned. First, fix the whole system of national blood donor, repairing all units of blood donors in the whole province reached 212 units of blood donors PMI, and there are 202 units of blood donors in hospitals throughout Indonesia.

Second, improve and build the blood donor units in shopping malls and college campuses to meningkatkn youth participation. Then, add 100 cars a blood donor units spread throughout Indonesia for the community closer. "So the people who visited, not the people who come," he said.

The awarding of honors is granted directly by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
